Clay: Rolls into a smooth, shiny sausage shape and feels sticky when wet.

Sandy: Feels gritty, falls through your fingers, won't roll into a sausage shape.

Loam: Feels slightly gritty and holds together a little before crumbling apart, in between clay and sandy.

Peaty: Feels slightly spongy, is dark in colour, and glistens when wet.
