Planting Calendar

Choose your region and up to eight crops, and build a 12-month calendar of when to sow, plant out and harvest — or switch to a printable checklist of everything to do this month, crop tasks and general jobs together. Sow and plant-out dates are worked out from your region's real last frost.

Sow/plant/harvest details
Sow
RHS advises sowing late Feb-mid Mar for greenhouse crops, late Mar-early Apr for outdoor. Expressed here as an offset so dates track each region's real last frost rather than a hardcoded month. Transplant only once nights are reliably above 16C, which in Scotland trails last frost by roughly 2 weeks.

Sow/plant/harvest details
Sow
February-March for early varieties under protection; April-July main season. Sow small batches regularly from early spring.
Harvest (estimated)
Roughly Aug-Sep, estimated from the sowing window and a typical 12-16 week harvest time for your region, not an RHS-stated date.
