Every other tool here assumes you already know what you're growing. This one works the other way: tell it what your garden's actually like, and see which of the 87 crops fit. There's no drainage or wind exposure filter, because there's no checked Scottish data for those across the whole catalogue.
How it works
Each of the 87 crops on the site carries a sun need, a hardiness and a space need, worked out from its growing guide, plus a soil pH preference where one is known. The matcher sets those against what you tell it about your garden. A crop that fits on every count is a good match. One that falls a single step short on one thing, a little more sun or frost protection or space than you have, shows as a close match, with the reason beside it, rather than vanishing. Anything further off drops out.
Sun works one way only. A crop that copes with some shade still grows in full sun, so a sunnier garden never counts against it; only a garden shadier than the crop can stand does. Soil pH works both ways, since blueberries fail in alkaline soil as surely as cabbages struggle in very acid ground.
A worked example
A small garden that gets some sun and some shade, with nothing to protect plants from frost, gets eight good matches: spinach, strawberries, mint, chives, parsley, radish, land cress and sorrel. Another 18 come up as close matches. Carrots, beetroot and onions want more sun than that, while lettuce, rocket and pak choi would like a cloche or fleece.
